September brings the beginning of the new school year, and with it the always enjoyable 1st dental check-up for many new kindergartners.   While it doesn’t happen often, there are always a few well-meaning parents who in their effort to make their child’s first dental experience a pleasant one inadvertently say:  “Don’t worry, he’s (or she’s) not going to hurt you.”

These words, intended to calm the child, usually have the exact opposite effect.
